A child who holds permanent residence applies to US universities as a resident. There is no student visa to secure or maintain, and no requirement to leave when a course ends.

Permanent residents can accept an internship, a first job or a founding role without an employer sponsoring them or a place in an annual lottery.

A green card is a durable status for the whole family. After the required period of permanent residence, family members may apply for US citizenship if they choose to.

On approval and visa availability, the family completes processing at a US consulate or, if already in the US, by adjustment of status.
